Job Opportunities & Work in Serbia

As the Serbian-Indian Chamber of Commerce, we are committed to fostering connections between Serbian companies and skilled professionals from South-East Asia. Our goal is to facilitate opportunities that promote employment, enhance business collaborations, and support mutual growth in both countries.

Even though the chamber does not have any current job openings or official employment programs, it can help in the following ways:
  • Event Coordination: Organizing seminars, trade shows, and business meetups.
  • Membership and Outreach: Managing members, communications, and recruitment.
  • Trade Facilitation: Assisting companies in navigating bilateral trade, partner searches, regulatory processes.
  • Marketing & Communications: Promoting chamber events, creating content, dissemination via social media or press.
  • Research & Market Intelligence: Analyzing bilateral trade stats and identifying emerging industry opportunities.
If you’re an Indian passport holder looking to work in Serbia, there are a few essential steps and legal requirements to navigate. Here’s a clear breakdown to help you understand the process:

Step by Step Requirements for Indian Citizens to Work in Serbia

1. Secure a Job Offer

You must first obtain a job offer from a Serbian employer, supported by an employment contract or a company invitation. This is the foundation for both your visa and work permit applications.

2. Apply for a Long-Stay Visa (D Visa) for Work

Since Indian passport holders require a visa to enter Serbia, you’ll need a Visa D specifically for employment. This visa generally allows you to stay and work in Serbia for up to 90–180 days. Documents typically required:
  • A valid passport (with at least 6 months before expiration and blank pages)
  • Completed visa application form
  • Job offer or employment contract
  • Proof of financial means
  • Health insurance valid during your stay
  • Possibly a police clearance certificate

3. Obtain Temporary Residence and Work Permit

Once your Visa D is approved and you enter Serbia, you must apply for a Temporary Residence Permit for employment, or a combined (single) permit that covers both residence and work. Key points:
  • The employer initiates a labor market test via the National Employment Service to confirm no suitable local candidate is available.
  • Once approved, your employer will apply for your work permit, after which you can apply for your residence permit.
Required documents for residence permit may include:
  • Valid passport
  • Completed application form
  • Proof of accommodation in Serbia
  • Financial means or salary evidence
  • Health insurance
  • Payment of application fees
Processing usually takes 15–30 days. Note: Indian passport holders can enter Serbia without a Serbian visa if they hold a valid Schengen, UK, or US visa, or a residency permit from one of these regions, for up to 90 days within 6 months. However, this is only applicable for travel or short stays, not for employment purposes.
