Continued investment in Serbian agriculture, building on its acquisition of IMT and expanded tractor production for local and European markets.

Mahindra & Mahindra :

Useful information on how to open a company in Serbia:

Most Common Types
  • DOO (Društvo sa Ograničenom Odgovornošću) – LLC, suitable for small to medium businesses.
  • AD (Akcionarsko Društvo) – Joint-stock company.
  • PR (Preduzetnik) – Sole proprietorship.

Note: For most people, DOO is the preferred option.

Company Name Requirements
  • Must be unique in Serbia.
  • You can check name availability online via the Serbian Business Registers Agency (APR).
For a DOO:
  • Founding Act / Memorandum of Association.
  • Decision on appointment of the director(s).
  • Copy of ID or passport of the founder(s) and director(s).
  • Proof of registered address in Serbia.
  • Bank statement confirming payment of founding capital (min. 100 RSD, ~€1 for DOO).

If a foreigner is opening a company:

  • All foreign documents must be translated into Serbian by a court-certified translator.
Register the Company with APR
  • Submit documentation to the APR (Agencija za privredne registre).
  • This can be done in person or online (if you have an electronic signature).
  • Registration fee is approx. 4,900 RSD (~€40).
  • APR typically registers companies within 3–5 working days.
Register with the Tax Administration
  • This is usually done automatically when registering at APR, but you may need to:
    • Apply for a Tax Identification Number (PIB).
    • Submit a tax and accounting form.
    • Register for VAT if your turnover exceeds 8 million RSD (~€68,000 annually), or voluntarily.
Register Employees
  • Register all employees with the Central Registry of Mandatory Social Insurance (CROSO).
  • Sign employment contracts and respect Serbian labor law.
  • Foreigners can own 100% of a company in Serbia.
  • You don’t need to reside in Serbia, but you do need a registered local address for the company.
  • Hiring a lawyer or business consultant in Serbia can simplify the process.
  • There are incentives for foreign investors in certain sectors (IT, manufacturing, etc.).
